Background

The project aims to socially and economically empower young men and women in entrepreneurial skills, confidence building, and empowering skills necessary to improve their access to productive resources and sustainable income potential as well as better engagement in development processes. Entrepreneurial training and incubation will be systematically linked and integrated with other complementary interventions such as access to markets, finance, appropriate technology, entrepreneurship development and follow up technical assistance, advisory services, and referral. This project is also aims to empower youth to have meaningful voice and participation in decision making processes in local and national level.

The project involves strategic partnerships with private sectors, government authorities, local leaders and community, civil societies and relevant institutions. It will operate in the One Stop Shop in the capital city of Dili.

The consultant will support the achievement of the following project outcomes and outputs.

CPD Outcome 1: Growth and development are inclusive and sustainable, incorporating productive capacities that create employment and livelihoods for the poor and excluded

Output 1.1: National and sub-national capacities and systems enhanced for employment and livelihood creation through entrepreneurship development and career services.

Output 1.2: Jobs and livelihoods created for youth and by youth, as a result of the One-Stop-Shop (disaggregated by sex, age, income and geographic locations)

Duties and Responsibilities

The Project Assistant will work under the overall supervision of the Programme and Project Manager and in coordination with the KJFL’s Business Specialists to perform the following task:

  • Provide technical, administrative and financial support to the project daily operations.
  • Support project management activities related to procurement and human resource and periodically reported to the Project Manager. 
  • Assist the Project Manager to liaise effectively with all stakeholders and counterparts, on project implementation-related matters.
  • Support logistic arrangement and venue preparation for meetings and training, including the provision of sound system and projector, chairs and tables, as well as other equipment when required.
  • Support the process of KJFL Office Insurance with relevant stakeholder in coordination with UNDP Procurement Unit.
  • Responsible to update project asset list and manage project store room.
  • Provide support to interns and volunteers when necessary.
  • Support training sessions as well as other events outside normal office hours, incl. weekends and holidays when required
  • Perform other relevant tasks as required.

Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, including the ability to liaise effectively at project management levels;
  • Ability to communicate and function effectively in an international, multicultural environment;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

Minimum high school diploma or final year of university student.

Professional Experience:

  • At least 1 year of professional experiences in project administration and logistics management or other related areas.
  • Previous experience with United Nations or I/NGO would be an advantage.

Language Requirements:

Fluently in spoken and written English and Tetun.
