Background

UNDP is the UN's global development network advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will require a rethink of how our societies and economies are organized, how we can eradicate poverty, inequality and how we can adopt sustainable patterns of production and consumption.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • In support of the country office do research among the countries in Asia Pacific about partnerships (Private sector engagement, CSR national strategies, Government contributions, IFI’s portfolio’s per country and the traditional donors);
  • Set up / maintain a Database to support the 25 Country Offices in the region with partnership related information;
  • To be independent and creative in various stages of partnership building process: networking, conducting research, negotiating, idea proposing, and presenting both externally and internally;
  • To draft and prepare a range of documents including meeting minutes, proposals, research with high efficiency and with client-ready quality;
  • To from time to time attend forums, meetings, and events to explore connections for the country offices with companies and organizations and learn about key technological / economical / political issues in the region;
  • To support the team’s day-to-day operations and other ad hoc tasks.

  • Ability to work under pressure and work on unfamiliar tasks;
  • Full dedication to the internship and willingness to travel to meetings, conferences, and client
    sites as needed;
  • Demonstrates commitment to UN’s mission, vision and values.

Required Skills and Experience

Education

  • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or;
  • Enrolled in a final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent) or;
  • Graduated with a university degree - and if selected, must start the internship within one year after graduation;
  • Field of studies in Economics, Legal, Public Administration or Business Administration would be desirable.

Experience

  • Experience in PPP/CSR/fundraising is an asset;
  • Extremely good and experienced in proposal writing;
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications.

Language

  • Strong oral and written communication ability in English.

Conditions:

  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring Government or institution;
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
  • The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for any positions (Fixed-Term Appointment, Temporary Appointment, Service Contract, Individual Contract) in UNDP during the period of the internship;
  • The intern must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan;
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.

Subsequent Employment:

There is no expectation of employment with UNDP following an internship.
