Grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, UN Women is working for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Recognizing the unprecedented opportunities as well as the challenges of rapid innovation and technological development for gender equality and women empowerment and the importance of innovation to benefit women and men equally, UN Women has included innovation as one of the “drivers of change” in its Strategic Plan 2018-2021. UN Women’s innovation strategy aims to leverage innovation and technology to accelerate the achievement of gender equality and women’s empowerment. UN Women’s innovation strategy takes a partnership approach to focus on developing the market for innovations that advance gender equality and women’s empowerment; promoting a gender-responsive approach to the innovation cycle; promoting innovations created by women, for women; and de-risking high impact innovations that benefit marginalized women.
Under the supervision of Head of Innovation and technology the Programme Analyst is responsible for providing technical advice to co-identify and design UN Women innovation and technology investments ; coordinating and facilitating implementation of UN Women’s innovation and technology investments; liaising with UN and other partners, including innovation incubators and accelerators to promote collaboration and strengthen partnerships, and strengthening UN Women’s knowledge management and internal capacity on innovation and technology
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical advice to co-identify and design UN Women innovation and technology investments:
Coordinate and facilitate implementation of UN Women’s innovation and technology investments:
Liaise with UN and other partners, including innovation incubators and accelerators to promote collaboration and strengthen partnerships:
Strengthen UN Women’s knowledge management and internal capacity on innovation and technology:
Perform other duties as requested by Head of Innovation and Technology.

Required Skills and Experience
In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women's empowerment.
