Background

Under the overall guidance of the UNDP ICT Associate the Intern provides daily technical support to end-users on the information management tools and technology infrastructure. ICT Intern promotes a client-oriented approach.

Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.

Objective of the internship: improve ICT Unit capacity in providing end user support.

Eligibility for internships in UNDP

Be enrolled in a graduate school programme; enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides effective support focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Provides daily on-site support on the usage of software and hardware to the end-users;
  • Researches and retrieves the data from various sources; preparation of statistical charts, tables and reports as required;
  • Helps to ensure that information and communication technology (ICT) equipment is in good working condition and assists with maintenance and minor repairs;
  • Assists in the installation of commercial and in-house software and related upgrades;
  • Responds to end-user needs regarding network access
  • Supports equipment inventory and ICT Unit record-keeping;
  • Perform other duties as tasked and deemed necessary for the overall delivery of the unit´s activities.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Enrolled student in a master degree programme or completed 4 years of full-time studies at a university in information and communications technology, information systems, computer science, information systems, cybernetics or related field. 
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation

Experience:

  • No experience required.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Portuguese and good working knowledge of English.

Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.

Conditions of internship:

  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship. 
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring government or institutions;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship or for six months immediately following the expiration date of the internship;
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
