Background

Under the direct supervision of the RC/Coordination Specialist, the intern will be hosted at the Resident Coordinator Office and he/she carry out tasks related to coordination in order to contribute to the functioning of the office, including performing substantive tasks, particularly those related to the support of the design, implementation and monitoring of programmes of the RCO.  

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure efficient coornation support, focusing on the achievement of the following results:

  • Supports RCO on the overall monitoring of the implementation of strategic frameworks such as UNPAF, Graduation from LDC to MIC and SDGs by UN Agencies in Angola; 
  • Provides logistical assistance in the process related to the development of the new UNPAF; 
  • Organizes and prepare regular meetings and provides logistical support to missions;
  • Assists in preparing documents for meetings: drafting, editing, updating and consolidating materials; 
  • Follows up on activities under the responsibility of RCO, such as the UN involvement with civil society organizations in Angola, among others; 
  • Supports administrative tasks including filing anddrafting letters; 
  • Undertakes any other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Enrolled student in a master degree programme or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in political sciences, international relations or related social sciences
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation

Experience:

  • No experience required.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Portuguese and good working knowledge of English.

Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.

Conditions of internship:

  • UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship. 
  • All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring government or institutions;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship.
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
