Background

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean (RBLAC), with HQ in New York is interested in enrolling a Digital Marketing intern to assist its communications efforts and support its work around the Sustainable Development Goals, with engaging digital strategies and effective analytics to measure our results and impact.

This is the opportunity for a Digital Marketing graduate student to create and roll-out innovative strategies in a UN agency present in more than 160 countries, focusing in particular in our work around Latin America and the Caribbean, where our social media channels engage with audiences in Spanish, English and, less frequently, in Portuguese and French.

Duties and Responsibilities

The interested candidate will assist the Communications team in UNDP-RBLAC

Key Results:

  • Contribute with creative ideas to reach and engage different audiences online; update internal and external websites with Sharepoint and CMS-Adobe respectively.
  • Conceptualize and create digital marketing strategies for our different digital channels, engaging audiences and growing our online clout
  • Propose new designs for visually impacting online comms products focusing on on SDGs/UNDP;

Duties and responsibilities:

Supports UNDP´s regional digital/online strategy @PNUDLAC

  • Boosts social media presence, engages with key target audiences, manages ?social media channels strategically to improve UNDP’s Latin America and the Caribbean digital relevance, helping convey UNDP’s role, role and inform the public about its work. ?
  • Updates the UNDP’s bilingual website in English and Spanish, making best use of UNDP’s CMS while making strategic use of content placement and visual communications. ?
  • Understands sensitivities and implements UNDP’s (LAC) digital strategy with ?discernment and responsibility
  • Supports with the creation of infographics and other visual communications ?materials as part of the digital strategy ?
  • Measures impacts of UNDP LAC digital presence, including social media ?channels, and advises on strategies to boost digital relevance and raise @PNUDLAC’s clout ?
  • Supports the organization of events and activities (both traditional and digital) such as conferences, press briefings, interviews, social media campaigns, etc. Assists in the preparation of briefing materials for senior officials in such events, especially through innovative digital engagement ideas and platforms.?

Supports the implementation of the UNDP LAC’s communication strategy.

Acts as coordinator on specific issues/special projects as requested.

Provides support to internal communications, including knowledge ?management platforms.

Availability: Candidate must be available through December 2018

Required Skills and Experience

Candidate must either be:

  • Enrolled in graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher).
  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent)
  • A university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one year of graduation.  

Language:

  • Fluency in English
  • Spanish is an asset

Candidates who are shortlisted for an interview must submit prior to the interview the following documents:

Duly completed UNDP Internship Application form;

Official letter from the University confirming enrollment in a graduate-level degree programme;

Copy of school transcript or copy of the University degree;

Letter of endorsement from a senior faculty member who has directly supervised the student in the recent past and who is fully acquainted with the student’s performance;

A brief paper setting out the reasons why he/she is seeking an internship with UNDP and what is expected from the experience.

Note:

UNDP internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;

UNDP only accepts interns for a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 6 months;

All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring Government or institution;

UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;

Proof of medical and life/accident insurance valid for the location in which the internship will be carried out;

The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;

Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship or for six months immediately following the expiration date of internship;

The intern must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan;

Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.
