Background

[Re-advertisment] The internal UN Women Programme and Project Management training has been designed by the UN Women Programme Division to respond to the implementation challenges in UN Women’s programmes and projects, building on existing internal knowledge, best practices and lessons learned, combining them with international tools and practices from different Project Management approaches.

In order to ensure efficient decisions and effective investment in setting up the training, and to maximize the value for UN Women’s programme and project management, a Pilot of the training took place in the second quarter of the year in the Europe and Central Asia Regional Office. The Pilot has enabled Programme Division to test the design of the full-scale experiment (modules, time, cost, risks) and to review the modules of the training incorporating feedback and lessons learned received from the participants. The rollout of the training in two other regions is expected during the third quarter of the year and the consultant will support in this phase.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Programme Manager of the PSMU, the expert’s work will have the following scope:

  1. To translate the 4 Modules of the training (including talking points) from English to Spanish and French;
  2. To deliver the training in the two languages in two regions

Objective:

To translate and deliver the training in replicate the training in two different regions: one Spanish speaking and the second one French speaking.

Implementation:

This consultancy will be implemented in following phases:

Phase I: Draft translation of the 4 Modules and talking points from English to Spanish, and from English to French

Phase II: Finalization of the modules in Spanish and French in consultation with PSMU

Phase III: Deliver the training in Spanish and French in two different regions and submission of the two training reports.

Deliverables:

  1. To translate the pilot training modules from the English version to a Spanish and French version;
  2. To deliver the training in the two languages in two different regions.

Phase 1: A draft of the 4 Modules translated in Spanish and French will be submitted to the Head of the PSMU. The consultant will meet the PSMU team to ensure the concepts of the English version are reflected in the Spanish and French ones.

The drafts include:

  • Draft Module 1 (including speaking points and examples)
  • Draft Module 2 (including speaking points and examples)
  • Draft Module 3 (including speaking points and examples)
  • Draft Module 4 (including speaking points and examples)

Phase II: Finalization of the Modules and preparation for the training:

  • Incorporate the comments received from PSMU
  • Support with the draft of the Agenda of the two trainings

Phase III: Delivery of the trainings in the two languages in two different regions:

  • Deliver of the training in the Americas and Caribbean region (Location TBD) and in one of the French speaking regions (Location TBD)
  • Submission of the Training Report for both trainings

Duration and duty station for the assignment   

The duration of the assignment will be 50 (fifty) days. The position is home-based with regular Skype meetings with the PSMU. UN Women will provide all necessary data. UN Women will not provide a laptop to the expert.

Fees and Schedule of Payments

The position will be remunerated based on an “all-inclusive lump-sum”. The successful candidate will receive his/her payment, based on the following tentative payment schedule:

40% of the contract amount upon submission to the Head of PSMU of the draft modules in Spanish and French (including speaking points and examples);

20% of the contract amount upon finalization of the Modules (including speaking points and examples) and approval by the Head of PSMU, and draft of the Agendas for the two trainings;

20% of the contract amount upon delivery of the training in the Americas and Caribbean and submission of the training report.

20% of the contract amount upon delivery of the training in one of the French speaking regions (Location TBD) and submission of the training report.

Travel and DSA for the delivery of the two trainings will be covered by UNWOMEN.

The Director of the Programme Division will certify the deliverables.

Required Skills and Experience

NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criteria detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

Education:

Education at Master level in Gender, international relations, economics, project management or relevant field.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in delivering trainings/workshops combined with experience in Project design and management;
  • Working knowledge of mission-driven organizations and the UN system;
  • Extended hands-on experience in developing training materials and facilitating trainings and workshops;
  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal relation skills;
  • Excellent ability to convene messages to different audiences and to write training material in English, Spanish and French languages;
  • Results-oriented and able to respect deadlines

Language:

Excellent speaking and written English, Spanish and French.
