Background

The UNDP Country Office is looking to diversify its substantive portfolio and the services offered to its partners as well as enhance its ability to plan for and respond in a timely fashion to the needs of its stakeholders. The Intern will work in close consultation and collaboration with the Programme staff at UNDP Trinidad and Tobago Country Office, as well as non-resident agencies and Government officials, to help ensure successful project implementation. 

Under the supervision and guidance of the Assistant Resident Representative (Programme), the Intern will provide services for Capacity Building and Effective support to the Portfolio in UNDP Trinidad and Tobago Country Office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and provide technical input for the preparation of analytical studies, reports, country programme strategies, etc.  Review consultant reports and provide technical analysis of findings. Support the process for preparation and dissemination of new knowledge products and the implementation of knowledge management practices.
  • Contribute to project design, proposal writing, preparation/commissioning of evaluation reports and other technical studies linked to the UNDPs portfolio in Trinidad and Tobago and other territories. Support the Country Office’s efforts to develop new pipeline projects and to build relations with new development partners.
  • Provide support for the Country Office’s outreach and stakeholder engagement initiatives through the organization of meetings, workshops/conferences, stakeholder consultations, dialogues, etc. Contribute to the technical preparation of concept papers, briefing documents, technical presentations etc. as well as the compilation of summary reports and outcome documents.  Support the preparation of impact reports/case studies for projects in execution.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in political or social sciences or related field; or
  • Have graduated with a second university degree in political or social sciences or related field and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Experience:

  • Experience at the national or international level in providing management advisory services and hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
  • Experience in the use of compuers and office software packages and handling of web based management systems.
