Background

The Video Production Intern’s primary function is to support the Communications Group’s (CG) video production services. These services include writing, filming, editing, publishing, and promoting video content, as well as providing technical and editorial support throughout UNDP’s global network of country offices.

Secondly, the Video Production Intern will be working on asset management. UNDP has a large video archive that must be maintained to support requests for footage and production equipment that requires regular maintenance. Knowledge of digital editing software, video formats, file conversion and sharing software, and professional audio-visual equipment is required.

The job requires creativity, enthusiasm in learning, good communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high-quality of output while working under pressure. The ability to use good judgment and experience working in a multi-cultural setting are critical.

Duties and Responsibilities

The internship will be organized around these main activities:

Video production support:

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Media & Advocacy Team within CG, the intern’s duties include:

* Filming interviews and footage for UNDP and UN related events;

* Producing videos of UNDP projects;

* Producing promotional material for UNDP;

* Filming footage and B-roll for UNDP, its partners, and media;

* Managing UNDP’s vast video archive;

* Responding to requests for video support and material;

* Managing production equipment, including computer hardware and software;

* Publishing video products online via the website and social media.

Competencies

* Recording broadcast/professional quality video and audio;

* Knowledge of lighting;

* Final Cut Pro X and/or Adobe Premiere editing skills;

* Knowledge of different video formats and file conversions from multiple formats;

* Video publishing online and social media;

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

* Student enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);

* Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);

* Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Experience:

* Sound knowledge in computer skills and editing software (Adobe After Effects; Adobe Creative Suite;

* Final Cut Pro X or Adobe Premiere);

Language:

* Fluency in English (French and Spanish an asset);

* Working knowledge of another UN language is an asset.

 

Conditions:

  • Interns are considered gratis personnel. They are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity
  • Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP. The costs associated must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her own arrangements for travel, accommodation, visa, etc.
  • Interns must have a valid work visa and be able to work in UNDP HQ located in New York
  • Interns must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan ( valid medical insurance identification);
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;

Once the candidate has been selected, the following additional documents need to be submitted:
