UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Since 2012 UN Women Bangladesh Country Office has been working on Disaster Risk Reduction(DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) supporting disaster and climate vulnerable women from the most disaster-prone parts of the country and generating knowledge through series of research and studies to create evidence on how gender inequality drives vulnerability and marginalization and determine ways in which achieving gender equality can lead to a more resilient and empowered Bangladesh. UN Women’s efforts to mainstream gender in DRR/CCA & humanitarian policies strategies and actions, with the belief that such gender responsive DRR/CCA & humanitarian programmes and policies will lead to resilience building and empowerment of women and girls, is acknowledged by the stakeholders. UN Women jointly with UNEP is currently implementing a regional programme “EmPower” to strengthen gender equality in disaster risk reduction and climate change actions in the Asia and Pacific region. It is a 5 year project (2018- 2022) supported by Swedish International Development Agency. The project envisions women and marginalized groups in Asia and the Pacific becoming more resilient to the adverse impacts of climate change and disasters. Reporting to Programme Specialist, DRR-CC-HA, the Programme Analyst will provide support to the regional programme “EmPower” by contributing in delivering programmes by analyzing results achieved during implementation and supporting appropriate application of systems and procedures. S/he will also extend technical assistance to “Strengthening Governance of Climate Change Finance to Enhance Gender Equality” project of UNDP. S/he will work in close collaboration with the programme and operations team, UN Women Regional staff, Government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful implementation of both the UN Women and UNDP ‘s regional projects in Bangladesh.

Duties and Responsibilities |
|
1. Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies in the area of climate change
2. Support management, implementation and monitoring of the regional projects
3. Provide technical assistance and capacity development support to project partners
4. Provide technical inputs to inter-agency coordination on climate change to achieve coherence and alignment of UN Women programmes with other partners
5. Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts
