Background

The 2016 Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review (QCPR) provides a new global framework to guide effective operationalization of UN presence at the country level. The QCPR emphasis on strengthening the linkages between development, humanitarian and peace, national ownership and leadership by building on existing efforts, using the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (in Burundi the UN Nations Assistance Plan) 2019 to 2023.

The Government of Burundi in 2018 developed a new National Development Plan from 2019 to 2023. In parallel, the One UN Burundi has developed the next UNDAF from 2019 to 2023 to articulate One UN’s strategic and operation support to the NDP and national priorities. The role of the One UN in Burundi is becoming increasingly important, and the One UN and its Partners consider the United Nations Country Team to be a key strategic partner and playing a vital role in supporting Burundi’s national priorities.
