Background

The position is located in the United Nations Resident Coordination Office (RCO) in Bangladesh and typically reports to the Senior Communications Advisor and UNIC National Information Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities: Within delegated authority, the Intern (Multimedia) will be responsible for the following duties:

 

Summary of Functions:

  • Produces video material in support of strategic communications goals centered on social media platforms;
  • Contributes to digital communications;
  • Supports publications and branding management.

 

Description of Functions:

 

Under the supervision of the Senior Communications Advisor and National Information Officer, the intern will:

  • Shoot and/or edit social media videos that help promote areas of work (eg. topics related to Sustainable Development Goals, human rights, economic development, UN reform) in an informative and engaging manner;
  • Support the daily management of the UN in Bangladesh social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and Flickr):
  • Support research on specific themes relating to the mandate and work of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office;
  • Provide support for the communications aspects related to the organization and preparation of meetings and events planned by the Resident Coordinator’s Office.

Required Skills and Experience

Qualification Requirements:

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • be enrolled in a graduate school programme in journalism, communication, film-making or related field (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme in journalism, communication, film-making or related field (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
  • have graduated with a university degree (as defined above).

• Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible. (Letter of enrollment from school will be requested from the selected applicants).

• Knowledge in using social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and of creating video products for social media platforms. 

• Knowledge of shooting video and editing using Abode Premiere and/or Final Cut Pro X.

• Good planning skills demonstrated through good time management, capacity to plan, and deliver tasks on time.

• Possess a very high level of flexibility and adaptability.

• Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.

• Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

• Take on other projects as assigned.

 

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Bangla are required.

 

Terms and conditions:

UNDP Internships are NON-PAID and a minimum of 8 weeks of commitment on behalf of the applicants is required, with longer commitment considered desirable. In return, UNDP commits to assign at least 1 staff member to act as a mentor to the intern and to ensure that interns are exposed to meaningful and adequately challenging professional tasks.
