Antecedentes

The position is in the United Nations Resident Coordination Office (RCO) in Bangladesh and typically reports to the Senior Communications Advisor and UNIC National Information Officer.

Responsibilities: Within delegated authority, the Digital and Social Media Intern will be responsible for the following duties:

 

Summary of Functions:

  • Participates in strategic communications centered on social media messaging and outreach.
  • Contributes to digital communications.
  • Supports publications and branding management.

 

Description of Functions:

 

Under the supervision of the Senior Communications Advisor and National Information Officer, the intern will:

  • Support the development of communications tools such as brochures, infographics, fact-sheets, multi-media assets etc.;
  • Support the daily management of the UN in Bangladesh website, including content management such as cleaning up technical and programmatic text for online publication, writing stories, producing new content etc.;
  • Support the daily management of the UN in Bangladesh social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Flickr):
  • Write engaging posts and ensuring regular updates on social media and support with production of other content for social media;
  • Keep up-to-date on new social media tools, best practices and how other organizations and companies are using them in order to identify new campaigning opportunities,
  • Analyze social media analytics together with the communications team to support the expansion of the RCO and UNCT’s reach in the country;
  • Support research on specific themes relating to the mandate and work of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office;
  • Provide support for the communications aspects related to the organization and preparation of meetings and events planned by the Resident Coordinator’s Office;
  • Contribute and ensure the visibility of events, campaigns and key activities planned by Resident Coordinator’s Office (eg.drafting articles, podcasts, photos, etc.);
  • Produce engaging multimedia content, in English and Bangla, for the UN in Bangladesh’s digital and social media platforms.

Habilidades y experiencia requeridas

Qualification Requirements:

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
  1. be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); 
  2. be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
  3. have graduated with a university degree (as defined above).
  • Only those students who will return to their studies upon completion of their internship assignments are eligible. (Letter of enrollment from school will be requested from the selected applicants).
  • Knowledge in using social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and of creating social media products. 
  • Familiarity with and/or interest in taking digital photographs. 
  • Strong computer skills, particularly of MS Word, and e-mail applications.
  • Good planning skills demonstrated through good time management, capacity to plan, and deliver tasks on time.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Possess a very high level of flexibility and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Take on other projects as assigned.

 

Language:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Bangla are required.

 

Terms and conditions:

UNDP Internships are NON-PAID and a minimum of 8 weeks of commitment on behalf of the applicants is required, with longer commitment considered desirable. In return, UNDP commits to assign at least 1 staff member to act as a mentor to the intern and to ensure that interns are exposed to meaningful and adequately challenging professional tasks
