Strategic Partnerships

At the regional office, the Strategic Partnerships Specialist is in charge of building partnerships with traditional donors as well as private sector entities, non-profit organisations and the media. In addition, the Strategic Partnerships Specialist supports country offices with their private sector engagement efforts and helps build their resource mobilisation capacity. The Strategic Partnerships Specialist is head of the Strategic Partnerships, Communications and Advocacy team and will be the consultant’s supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of Work

The purpose of the consultancy is to assist the Strategic Partnerships Specialist in developing and managing UN Women’s relationships with donors and strategic partners in the region, providing resource mobilisation support to the regional office and (multi-)country offices in Asia and the Pacific and supporting the overall execution of the resource mobilisation strategy.

In light of this, the consultant will perform the following tasks:

  • Coordinate between involved parties on the UN Women – Unilever – UNDP tea project in Bangladesh;
  • Support the coordination between involved parties on the UN Women – Unilever virtual skills school project in Indonesia;
  • Lead on the Salesforce pilot in Asia and the Pacific;
  • Support COs with their RM and partnerships efforts through monthly calls, webinars, and other support as requested by COs;
  • Monitor due diligence in the region and support COs with their due diligence processes;
  • Help organise a regional RM and Partnerships workshop;
  • Liaise with UN Women’s national committees e.g. by having bi-annual calls;
  • Support the development of project proposals and the coordination between involved parties;
  • Provide institutional support by identifying and conducting research into priority areas of bilateral partners and supporting internal outreach processes;
  • Prepare briefing notes in support of engagement activities;
  • Analyse UN Women’s funding trends in the Asia-Pacific region;

Institutional Arrangement

The consultant will work under the supervision of the Strategic Partnerships Specialist. UN Women will provide the consultant with a work laptop to conduct the assignment and a workstation. In the event that the consultant needs to travel during the consultancy for assignment-related purposes, UN Women will bear the costs of requested travel expenses.

Required Skills and Experience

  • At least a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, International Relations, Economics or other related field;
  • Excellent communications skills (written and oral) in English are required. Working knowledge of another UN language is desirable;
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment is essential;
  • Good command of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required;
  • Experience working with bilateral partners, the private sector and other donors/partners is desirable;
  • The consultant must have strong analytical skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment is essential;
  • The consultant must have a strong sense of responsibility, a flexible and proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently;
  • Experience with the UN system is an asset.
