Background |
|
The UNDP Regional Centre for Latin America and the Caribbean, through its Gender Practice Area, develops various initiatives and work strategies that foster the consolidation of national capacities in order to promote, together with multiple organizations and stakeholders, policies and programmes that respond to prevalent gender inequality scenarios in our region. In this context, a number of initiatives have been launched to ensure that policies, programmes and national and regional projects will play their part in helping to eliminate gender gaps. With this backdrop in mind, the UNDP Gender Department aims to contribute to the development of policies, projects and strategic initiatives that transform the structures, values and paradigms that perpetuate gender inequality throughout the region, by strengthening the capacities of partner countries and country offices with a view to mainstreaming gender equality in key policy and service delivery. This with regard to four specific areas: • Sustainable development: Inclusive growth, economic empowerment of women, strengthening sustainable livelihoods, care economy and social protection systems, employment equity policies, private sector and gender equality and disaster risk management and gender equality.
