Background

The internship is intended to offer a university post-graduate level student the opportunity to acquire direct exposure to the work of the UNDP Timor-Leste, and in particular of the operations department. It aims to complement the study of the intern with practical experience in various aspects of the work of UNDP Timor-Leste’s in Operations Department. Providing an opportunity to make substantive contributions to an office’s work is an essential requirement of offices taking on interns.

Upon completion of the country office management change, the office has limited staff to perform additional task that required attention. SOPs of the operations and programme need to be updated as well as country office business continuity plan and induction package for the newly arrival staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager or Head of Human Resources/Human Resources Analyst and designated Supervisor, the intern will provide operations support to human resources department and other department within Operations . The intern will focus on the following tasks:

  • Support the development of draft induction package for the Officer;
  • Update the HR, Finance and Procurement SOPs in coordination with HR, Finance and Procurement units;
  • Support HR department in darfting recruitment minutes and contacting candidates for the test and interview;
  • Any other tasks as requested by the Operations Manager;
  • Support Operations Manager on day to day operations issue and other tasks as requested by the Operations Manager.

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); in Business Administration, Human Resources and Social Sciences;
(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); As define in (a);
(c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation. As define in (a).
