Background

Under the supervision of the Communications Analyst; the Social Media Intern will be expected to provide support to the communication functions and activities for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Egypt.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the Communication Team with the following:

  • Support in the preparation and generation of social media content for UNDP Egypt social media platforms.
  • Prepare social media analytics reports on regular basis.
  • Support the social media coverage of UNDP’s events and conferences.
  • Assist in the logistical and communication preparations of key events and activities in coordination with the various teams.
  • Provide support in producing videos and infographics capturing key messages of UNDP’s Egypt work in Egypt.
  • Assist in planning and implementing new campaigning opportunities that promote UNDP’s mandate and key development solutions.
  • Assist in writing press releases, human and success stories and feature articles related to the various projects and activities/events.
  • Assist any other duties as may be deemed necessary.

Required Skills and Experience

Eligibility:

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  1. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in the field of communications, public relations, business administration or related fields;
  2. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in the field of communications, public relations, business administration or related fields;
  3. Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Requirements: 

  1. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
  2. Ability to think creatively, work logically and precisely with attention to detail.
  3. Ability to write for social media clearly and concisely.
  4. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or other design software is an asset.  

Others:

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.
  • Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of: The nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or the intern, who must obtain financing for subsistence through private sources.
  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal effects that may occur during the internship.
