Background

The Common Premises Unit wishes to engage an intern to provide support for various administrative functions.  The intern will support strengthening and maintaining internal management systems in the areas of office maintenance.  The intern will have the opportunity to propose improved systems and apply principles of good business administration in practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with tracking and recording of Common Premises Unit bills and payments.
  • Assist with maintaining stationery stock levels in the office and advise re-orders as required against defined minimum stock levels.
  • Participate in building maintenance checks and respond to requests from agencies.
  • Assist with Unit filing and making copies of documents when needed.
  • Taking minutes in all Common Premises meetings.
  • Collect and share with agencies at the UN House the monthly Environmental Flow Assessment data.
  • Actively participate in UN Greening meetings and activities.
  • Any other administrative tasks assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

Eligibility:

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

(a)   Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second univesity degree or equivalent, or higher);

(b)   Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level equivalent);

(c)   Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.

Education: 

Candidates must have graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration within the last year, or must be currently enrolled in a Master's Programme in Business Administration.

Experience:

Candidates are not expected to have any previous work experience, however experience in Business Administration is desired.

Conditions:

  • Interns are considered gratis personnel.  They are not staff members.
  • Interns are not financially remunerated by UNDP.  The costs associated must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing or subsistence and make his or her arrangements for travel, accommodation, visa, etc.
  • All costs associated with the latter must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assitance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her own arrangements for travel, accommodation, etc.
  • The intern must provide proof of enrollment in health insurance plan.
