Background

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the HR Associate, the Intern provides support to HR unit performing routine duties ensuring high quality of work, accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery. The Intern promotes a client-oriented and consistent with rules and regulations approach in the Unit.

By the end of internship, the incumbent is expected to gain basic knowledge of the (i) HR processes and knowledge of UN regulations and rules, (ii) business correspondence, (iii) communications with clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intern is expected to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Providing support to recruitment process including supporting vacancy announcements/job posting, screening of candidates,  assisting in interview arrangements and assisting in preparing interview minutes
  • Assisting in consolidating and categorizing HR related documents
  • Providing logistic support to daily HR management, including routine correspondences drafting and meeting arrangement
  • Assisting in collection and preparation of cost-recovery bills for HR services
  • Internship Management including induction, knowledge sharing sessions, separation and exit survey analysis
  • Assisting in organizing HR-related events, including new staff orientation 
  • Assist with archiving: Sort, classify and file documentation according to guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned

Respect and preserve an utmost confidentiality of information or documents disclosed to Intern, or discovered by Intern, or prepared by Intern in the course of present internship. Do not divulge any information related to the HR unit, to a party outside the Human Resources Department.

  • Strong IT skills and experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).

  • Knowledgeable about development and UN system.

Required Skills and Experience

Education : 

  • Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field.
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or have graduated from university degree programme (Bachelor’s level or equivalent) and if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation; or
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree: Master’s or equivalent, or higher) is desirable.

Experience : 

  • Baccalaureate + 2/4 years of study or equivalent 

Language requirements:

  • Working knowledge of French and English, Arabic is desirable
