Background

In 2018, the JTF has developed a joint EU-UNDP “Sustaining Peace through Elections” initiative (SELECT) anchored in a new governance strategy called “Democracy Strengthening approach”, aiming at bringing together key institutions and work on different themes such as inclusion, transparency, accountability, integrity and capacity. The initiative also has a more conflict-sensitive branch called Programming for Peace, aiming at assisting electoral stakeholders in the formulation and implementation of electoral assistance projects through a range of activities centred around conflict prevention.
