Background

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, the empowerment of women, and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women's rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world.

In this context, the Communications section at UN Women Headquarters in New York, supports the positioning of women’s empowerment and gender equality as key issues on the international agenda and establishes UN Women’s role as the global authority. This entails developing and promoting high-quality visual and interactive content that communicates about UN Women’s work on its global website and social media platforms.

Due to the increasing demand for visual assets to better engage audiences across multiple distribution platforms , the Communications section seeks to enlist the services of a Digital Media Consultant (Visual Communications) specifically for 1) International Women’s Day and the Commission on the Status of Women in March, among other UN International Days, and 2) to support UN Women’s Generation Equality campaign. The consultant will support the Digital and Interactive Media Team Lead in the production of visual communications assets (simple and complex) on women’s rights and gender equality.
