UN Women Country Office in Georgia supports the government and civil society partners in fostering women's empowerment and gender equality. UN Women focuses its activities on one overarching goal: to support the implementation of existing international commitments to advance gender equality at the national level.

In recent years, digital products have become one of the best ways to convey various information to a large and diverse audience on social media platforms. In the past 2-3 years, UN Women has begun using various visual products including infographics to convey the enormous amount of work that is being done on a local and global scale and to visualize the data that is available on women’s rights and issues. Visual products such as infographics provide the opportunity to present information and data in a straightforward way. They are being used on and disseminated through, for example, UN Women websites, social media, and advocacy reports.

UN Women plans to maximize its communication and outreach through targeted, diverse digital visual products such as: internet banners, infographics/data visualization, social media posters, animated visuals, and gifs for print and social media.

UN Women in Georgia is seeking a professional designer/data visualization specialist to support in producing various print and digital visualization products.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working under the guidance of the Communication Analyst and in close collaboration with the UN Women programme staff, the consultant’s primary tasks may include the following, among others:

  • Working closely with UN Women teams, conceptualize and develop animation videos, graphics and infographics;
  • Suggest ways on how best to visualize specific data and information derived from UN Women studies and surveys;
  • Ensure user-friendly formats, layout, and design and that all publications, reports and products are produced in line with UN Women branding /visual/ graphic guidelines;
  • Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, web-based and animated products;
  • Design and lay-out of design for various applications such as advertisements, brochures, reports and other communications products for print and electronic distribution:
  • Translate data into graphic elements – infographics, factographs;
  • Layout and design information and communication materials (banners, posters, booklets, leaflets, books, calendars, bulletins, flyers, cards);
  • Create animations for illustrative purposes such as gifs, animated visuals and more advanced solutions;
  • Designer should work at his/her place and thus should have all the necessary equipment and software (corel, photoshop, quark, adobe professional) for producing designs/layouts;

UN Women will provide the edited text, basic characteristics and photos for the products.

Deliverables:

  • Develop product concept format/design/layout in line with UN Women branding guidelines;
  • For each material, at least three versions of a draft designs submitted. UN Women selects one design out of the three suggested options;  
  • Advice on final specifications for printing;
  • Finalized electronic version of the particular product (full size and resized for web up to 2.5 kb) incorporating the inputs and feedback of UN Women;
  • keep an archive of all the UN Women designs as well.
  • Delivery of the print-ready version of the product to the printing house advised by UN Women and communication with the selected printer on all color separation/print related issues.

Note: the work will be reimbursed based on the submitted report accompanied with finalized deliverable(s) as requested, from the above list of deliverables.

  • Excellent skills and experience with design programmes such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Bridge, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Flash, Avid, Final Cut Pro and other graphic design software;
  • Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and color management.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • University degree (at least Bachelor’s) in visual arts and design or any relevant field;

Experience: 

  • At least five years of experience as an art director or graphic designer;
  • Proved experience in info graphics, data visualization and digital design;

Language:

  • Fluency in Georgian and good knowledge of English.

Evaluation procedure:

The candidates will be evaluated against the following technical and financial criteria:

  • University degree (Masters) in Social Sciences (max 30 points);
  • At least five years of experience as a designer (max 100 points);
  • Proven experience of working as info graphics and data visualization and digital design – portfolio should be presented (max 100 points);
  • Examples of creative art work in digital design ; (max 90 points);
  • Fluency in Georgian and English (max 30 points).

Maximum total technical score amounts to 350 points. Only candidates who have passed over the minimum qualification criteria and have accumulated at least 245 points out of maximum 350 under technical evaluation will qualify for the next stage i.e. evaluation of their financial proposals.

Evaluation of submitted financial offers will be done based on the following formula: S = Fmin / F * 150

S – score received on financial evaluation;

Fmin – the lowest financial offer out of all the submitted offers qualified over the technical evaluation round;

F – financial offer under consideration.

The winning candidate will be the candidate, who has accumulated the highest aggregated score (technical scoring + financial scoring).

Management arrangements:

The contractor will report to and work under direct supervision of UN Women Communications Analyst and overall guidance of UN Women Georgia Country Representative.

Financial arrangements:

Payment will be disbursed upon submission and approval of deliverables and certification by UN Women National Programme Officer that the services have been satisfactorily.
