Background

The Governance for Resilience and Sustainability Project (GRSP) is designed to help the Government of Myanmar (GoM) implement recent policy reforms related to environmental governance, climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), to ensure that economic growth in Myanmar is more inclusive, resilient and sustainable. The project recognises that environmental degradation, when combined with natural disasters and effects of climate change, undermines the attainment of inclusive and sustainable growth. Through GRSP, UNDP will continue its support to the implementation of the new National Environmental Policy (NEP), Myanmar Action Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction (MAPDRR) and Myanmar Climate Change Policy and Climate Change Strategy and Master Plan (MCCSMP) at the Union and sub-national levels.

GRSP, through the “Building Capacities for Resilient Recovery-Phase II” initiative, will contribute to the strengthening of national capacities and systems to plan and manage recovery processes. Strengthening national capacities will result in building back better and safer thus contributing to building the resilience of the country and its communities in the face of disaster and restoring sustainable development pathways. This recovery initiative aims to improve the enabling environment for recovery through enhanced institutional arrangements and streamlined mandates. It also aims at strengthening capacities of government authorities and other relevant stakeholders in implementing a resilient recovery. This output is expected to enhance the Government capacity through training, awareness, development of tools and guidelines and testing tools in practice.

To this end, GRSP is seeking an International Consultant that can support the implementation of the Building Capacities for Resilient Recovery in Myanmar
