Background

UNDP Guinea-Bissau, in order to be more innovative and turn its publications more reader-friendly, seeks a graphic designer that will be able to work on the elaboration of reports, templates, audio visual material.

Objective of the assignment:

The overall objective of this assignment is to create, based on UNDP branding guidance, and the management’s orientation, attractive and reader-friendly audio-visual material for UNDP Guinea-Bissau country office.

The specific objectives are to:

1.           Based on the content on Word version submitted by UNDP, create a specific design for reports, templates etc;

2.           Create and design infographics based on data submitted by UNDP;

3.           Edit audio-visual material received from headquarter in order to adapt it locally;

4.           Take pictures or videos when necessary for a design

The consultant will work closely with UNDP Guinea-Bissau Communications Analyst that is the focal person that will coordinate internal feedback about the works requested and ensure compliance with UNDP Branding Guidance and management’s recommendation.


Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Communications Analyst, the contractor will be responsible for:

Expected Deliverables:

  • The contractor is expected to deliver the following products:
  • Posters,
  • Post for social media related campaigns;
  • Reports templates;
  • Infographics;
  • Videos;
  • Pictures;

n order to deliver the above products, the contractor is expected to:

  • Work closely with UNDP Communications Analyst to ensure that layout and publication are compliant with UNDP branding guidance;
  • Make sure to have at disposal all necessary network installation, material and software to perform the work within the set deadline;
  • Submit new versions including corrections suggested by UNDP team at the latest 48 hours after receiving revised version;

Reporting:

The contractor will work directly with the Communications Analyst to whom will provide regular updates on the course of his assignment execution.

The consultant will discuss any challenges or bottlenecks that he may find in the process with the Communications Analyst and find solutions to enable the achievement of defined objectives.

He/she will also discuss with the Communications Analyst all technical aspects of the assignment, as well as proposed deliverables before formal submission.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  • Advanced Degree –in Graphic Designing, Marketing, Publicity or related area.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of national/international professional experience in the practice area with designing/communications
  • Similar work experience with other institutions highly desirable;
  • Contractor must have prior experience in graphic designing;
  • Contractor must be experienced in video creating;
  • Contractor must have prior experience in photography;
  • Contractor must have experience in designing multiple language versions.
  • Experience in the use of computers and office software packages as well as web based management systems.
  • Excellent graphic, esthetic, and presentation skills.

Language:

  • Spoken and written knowledge of English and Portuguese is a requirement;
  • Knowledge of French will be a plus. 

Guidelines for application:

Financial Proposal* - specifying a daily rate in USD and, if applicable, a lump sum for round-trip travel costs to join duty station/repatriation travel.

Plase submit the technical and financial proposals separately for evaluation purposes.

Please note that the financial proposal is all-inclusive and shall take into account various expenses incurred by the consultant/contractor during the contract period (e.g. rent of dwelling, fee, health insurance, vaccination, visa costs and any other relevant expenses related to the performance of services...). All envisaged costs (except of the unforeseen travel costs for missions, if any) must be included in the financial proposal. Unforeseen travel costs for missions, if any, will be paid separately according to UNDP rules and regulations.

Evaluation:

Applicants will be screened against qualifications and competencies specified below through a desk review or an interview process. Applicants will be evaluated based on: Cumulative analysis based on a combination of the Technical and Financial Scores

Payment Method:

All-inclusive Lump Sum Amount/per deliverables

NB. This is an LTA. A yearly Contract will be signed with maximum of 3 individual graphic designers that will be selected from this process. The original contract is renewable for an addtional two years. Overal contract duration is 3 years.
