Background

UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. We help countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results.

UNDP is working to strengthen new frameworks for development, sustainable green growth, strengthen and modernise governance systems, rule of law and enhance social cohesion. We support countries' efforts to achieve the new Sustainable Development Goals, which will guide global development priorities through 2030. The key 2030 Agenda principle of leaving no one behind and stamping out inequality is at the core of everything we do.

UNDP focuses on helping countries build and share solutions in three main areas:

  • Sustainable development, Climate and resilience
  • Democratic governance and peacebuilding
  • Greater social cohesion

In all our activities, we encourage the protection of human rights, the empowerment of women, minorities, and most vulnerable.

The project Support to Anti-Corruption Efforts in Kosovo (SAEK) III is expected to have a positive impact on reducing the level of corruption in Kosovo by strengthening monitoring and oversight mechanisms of institutions to perform in an efficient, transparent, accountable, and gender sensitive manner. The project will ensure greater transparency and accountability of those institutions responsible for delivering public services and create the necessary requirements for more participatory governance at the local level.

Activities implemented under SAEK III Component 1 will focus on strengthening the capacities of the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency (KACA) to become an effective external control mechanism for ethics, integrity and efficiency of the public administration. As identified as a priority by the EC Kosovo Reports, the project will also focus on enhancing active partnership and stronger collaboration and coordination amongst relevant stakeholders on anti-corruption issues, particularly amongst the KAA, prosecution and law enforcement.

UNDP SAEK III, in respond to the request of the KACA for providing assistance with five (5) interns, seeks to recruit and second interns to help KACA in becoming more efficient, transparent and responsive to queries of media, CSOs and public, something that current allowed resources present an impediment to the KACA. The activity complements other UNDP efforts to engage youth in the labour market through development of skills and to obtain work experience.
