Background

West African countries are facing an ever growing and adaptive terrorist threat. In response, numerous regional, cross-border and national initiatives have been launched. Despite these critical efforts, terrorist groups such as Al Qaida, Boko Haram and ISIL/Da’esh have consolidated their ideological influence, criminal activities and territorial presence in parts of West Africa.
