BACKGROUND
UN Women
UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. UN Women, among other issues, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; empowerment of women; and achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
Asia and the Pacific
UN Women's Regional Asia and the Pacific Regional Office in Bangkok supports and carries out work on (i) expanding women's leadership and participation; (ii) enhancing women's economic empowerment;and (iii) ending violence against women. In addition to the above, UN Women also actively participates and contributes to various UN inter agency processes and collaborates with UN organizations around specific programme areas.
Partnerships & Resource Mobilization, Advocacy and Communications Unit (PRMAC)
This position is based within Partnerships, Resource Mobilization, Communications and Advocacy (PRMAC) Unit for the UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP). At the regional office, PRMAC is in charge of building partnerships with private sector entities as well as bilateral partners, non-profit organisations and the media. PRMAC also provides strategic advice and technical support to both the regional office and country offices in Advocacy and Communications in Asia and the Pacific. The Head of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization manages the PRMAC unit and will be the consultant’s supervisor.
