Background
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, the empowerment of women, and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women's rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world.
In this context, the Communications section at UN Women Headquarters in New York, supports the positioning of women’s empowerment and gender equality as key issues on the international agenda and establishes UN Women’s role as the global authority. This entails developing high-quality visual, interactive and digital content and campaigns that communicates about UN Women’s work, its brand and gender equality across digital platforms (web, social and pro bono ad spaces) as well as developing communications partnerships to reach new audiences.
Due to the increasing demand to better engage audiences across multiple distribution platforms, the Communications section seeks to enlist the services of a Digital Communications Consultant specifically to support communications advocacy efforts around key thematic areas and priorities, including but not limited to UN International Days, UN Women events and campaigns, COVID-19, 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence and brand awareness. The consultant will support the Digital and Interactive Communications Manager in the coordination and production of visual and interactive communications assets and campaigns (infographics, web interactive sites, brand ads, etc) on women’s rights and gender equality. The consultant will also support the Digital and Interactive Communications Manager and the wider communications team in communications partnerships and research to inform digital strategy.
