UN Women is grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls, the empowerment of women, and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women's rights at the centre of all its efforts, UN Women leads and coordinates United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action at national, regional and global levels.

The UN Women South Africa Multi-Country Office ( SA MCO) Strategic Note 2017–2022 follows a results-based management and programme based approach to maximize synergies, coordination and alignment, oversight, M&E and governance leveraging the triple mandate – Normative, Coordination and Operational. UN SA MCO Retreat:

The SA MCO covers – Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Swaziland and is also the UN Women Liaison office for the SADC Secretariat. Retreats provides an opportunity for reflection on past achievements, for cross-learning and for envisioning the future through collective planning. Past retreats have also provided an opportunity for SA MCO to engage with our partners and UN Women colleagues from other offices on corporate developments and/or initiatives, and to understand how, as partners we can learn and improve in the future.

This Retreat will provide an opportunity for reflections on the year of uncertainties and adjustments made and needed in 2021 for programmatic and administrative effectiveness. It will also be a space for recognition of the scale of loss and disruption experienced by our teams and their families and affirm approaches that are empathetic and build the team.  Given the COVID-19 related mobility restrictions, the retreat will be held virtually over five days in the mornings only between 22 – 26 March 2021.

It is against this background that UN Women is seeking the services of a company to facilitate and support the organizing of the Staff Retreat.

It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women's empowerment.
