Background

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of Programme Specialist, the intern is expected to undertake the following:

  • Assist in the development and coordination of Country Office materials for raising awareness and strengthening advocacy in any of the above thematic areas;
  • Support programme with research and analysis related to specific thematic areas;
  • Assist in collecting data on a regular basis to measure achievement against the performance indicators
  • Draft communications pieces related to the specified portfolio;
  • Draft stories and news items for UN Women’s social media, collecting photos and videos where necessary;
  • Support development and implementation of various activities and tasks under the framework of the following thematic areas GBG/EVAW/WEE/Communications/M&E, Operations.
  • Provide programme and administrative support

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants to the United Nations internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  • University studies in one of the following disciplines: Gender and development, Social Sciences or other relevant discipline based on the specific thematic area  being applied for
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation, or Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
