Office/Unit/Project Description
The Technical Secretariat of UNPRPD MPTF is based in the UNDP Governance team in the Bureau of Policy and Programme Support. The UNPRPD Technical Secretariat operates in accordance with the UNPRPD Strategic Operational Framework 2020–2025 and agreed annual work plan developed following strategic direction from the Policy Board and upon approval by the Management Committee.
With over 40 active programmes yearly the UNPRPD FUND is working towards improving the way in which programmes are designed and results monitored and captured in line with its new logframe.
The Communication Specialist Manages the Fund Secretariat’s digital communications, Facilitates communication/knowledge sharing, Coordinates outreach and visibility events within global spaces, Support Resource mobilization efforts as needed
Institutional Arrangement
The Communications Specialist will be reporting to the Direct Supervisor who is serving as Programme Coordinator, and will work closely with the Manager of the Technical M&EL and Programme technical Speciaist as well as the operations assistant.
Duties and Responsibilities
Scope of Work
Digital communications
- Develop and manage workplan of digital communications activities.
- Manage and develop content of UNPRPD MPTF digital and social media platforms, including the website, photo, audio and video channels.
- Monitors, analyses and evaluates implementation and impact of UNPRPD MPTF social media presence.
- Coordinates and undertakes the production and publishing of daily content (text, images, video or HTML) that support and engages audiences in a meaningful way;
- Works with UN country teams to ensure full coverage of the UNPRPD MPTF activities and the generation of new content;
- Maintains UNPRPD MPTF presence in public dialogue where appropriate;
- Works with staff to engage online audiences through social media platforms;
- Manages social media communication with supporters and interested parties, building relationships with existing supporters and influencers to build the UNPRPD MPTF; and
- Develops relationships with key partners to maximize visibility and traffic to UNPRPD MPTF platforms and to maximize the distribution of content.
Facilitation of communication/knowledge sharing and management
- Develop and manage workplan of communications and knowledge sharing and management activities.
- Support the development of story-telling, visibility and outreach for UNPRPD MPTF;
- Prepare and implementation of communication tools and materials and advise on how these can be operationalized;
- Develop communication messages into existing UNPRPD MPTF initiatives linked to communication/ knowledge sharing efforts;
- Develop coordinate and produce quarterly UNPRPD News Letter.
- Produce communication products and materials to support the work of the UNPRPD MPTF for a wide variety of media and donor and government partners;
- Coordinate the writing, development, design, production and dissemination of publications - particularly relevant news releases through print and video, utilizing the resources of the UNPRPD MPTF partners, and pitching pieces for publication when possible; and
- Provide editorial input into all forms of varied publications, reports and website updates as needed.
Coordinates outreach and visibility events within global spaces
- Develop outreach and visibility strategy
- Identifies comms opportunities and leads strategic communications activities to support resource mobilization efforts
- Proposes and designs concepts note for events
- Facilitate coordination among partners and sponsors
- Manages dissemination of event
- Supervises organization of event with support of Operations Officer
Other duties
