UNDP Egypt support the Government of Egypt and stakeholder with innovative development solutions and a large portfolio of projects for the following main three development issues:

  • Social Inclusion (Support to Social Protection programmes, combating all source of disenfranchisement - gender, age, geography, ability)
  • Inclusive Growth (Support to MSMEs, Digitalization of and Informal Sector, )
  • Environnent (Climate Change Mitigation, Climate Change Adaptation, Sustainable Tourism and Biodiversity)

UNDP Egypt deploy this support through the below main five functional areas:

  • Programme Implementation and Technical oversight
  • Policy and Partnership (General policy support, Integrated approach to SDGs implementation and SDGs financing, relations with partners)
  • Results-Based Management (results monitoring, portfolio management, relations with funding partners)
  • Communications (Social Media, Media Support, Events)
  • Operations support for project implementation

UNDP Egypt is seeking to select interns interested in developing their knowledge and contributing in the above functional areas.

The Policy and Partnerships team works closely with Egypt institutions, including the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) on evidence-based and national-level policy initiatives. These include but are not limited to work on mainstreaming, accelerating and policy support related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), supporting the development of Egypt’s Human Development Report, and contributing to the wealth of policy support on financing for development.  The Policy and Partnerships team also works with other specialized Programmes within UNDP to support them with their outreach, resource mobilization efforts and expansion on partnerships with government partners, private sector, and civil service organizations.
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Deputy Resident Representative and the Policy and Partnerships Programme Analyst, the Management and Policy Intern will assist the team with the implementation of all ongoing and planned policy-related activities and projects, support with updating UNDP’s partnership research and partnership tools, and also support with the promotion of organizational tools within the team and with other UNDP programmes.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

1.    Partnership Intelligence and Donor Outreach

  • Assist in updating the Partnerships and Communication Action Plan
  • Assist in developing a Partnerships ToolBox using available resources
  • Update donor intelligence database
  • Support with the implementation of a capacity development program on partnerships  

 

2.    Sustainable Development Goals Data and Financing Frameworks

 

  • Assist in data collection, management and analysis
  • Support with activities related to the development of an SDG dashboard
  • Support with data collection and data entry associated with developing a Financing Strategy for Egypt (SDG costing and mapping of financing flows)
  • Support in the development of ToRs for consultants, companies and services needed to support activity and project implementation   

3.    Organizational and Cross Functional Support

  • Assist in setting up the team’s internal organizational tools – shared folder drive, expert database etc.
  • Providing innovative ideas on enhancing cross functional team engagement to ensure flow of information among different teams
  • Support other/ad hoc activities as seen relevant and needed

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);

b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);

c) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;

d) Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.
