Background
In collaboration with Capacity Development and Knowledge Management sections, Santo Domingo Training Centre will develop and implement UN Women's strategy for capacity development of national partners in key functions, as well as for UN system staff. It will develop UN system training programmes in gender equality and empowerment of women, in close partnership with UN Staff College, UNITAR, and other UN training institutions, making maximum use of on-line training techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement pedagogical principles and best practices into developing training programmes and monitor their effectiveness and relevancy;
- Establish baselines on Gender Training and monitor standards;
- Support the establishments of a Gender Training Roster and provide substantive, technical and administrative support to the Roster;
- Further develop and maintain the Gender Training Community of Practice (CoP);
- Apply new technologies in developing online programmes, courses, materials in collaboration with other UN Women colleagues.
- Incorporate pedagogical best practices into gender training courses;
- Develop training materials, programmes and user manuals;
- Provide training on the use of these manuals under the pedagogic quality standards;
- Support training activities for UN Women staff , UN system Staff and partners;
- Contribute to the development of new online tools, surveys and other pilot projects;
- Support the evaluation of the adequacy of existing training and training tools for gender training and make pedagogic adaptations as needed;
- Monitor delivery of work against plans and report on progress;
- Participate in the preparation of annual work plans for training/capacity building.
- Support the development and analysis of needs assessment surveys;
- Contribute in design, development implementation, testing and evaluation of new on line applications on Gender Training Participate in record-keeping and data management of training and capacity development initiatives;
- Contribute to effective working partnerships with counterparts.
- Provide substantive, and technical support to the Gender Training Roster;
- Support the identification of experts and practitioners for the Gender Training Roster;
- Support deployment of trainers to field offices as requested;
- Support the evaluation of trainers deployed with the field offices.
- Ensure that training information and tools are regularly used, relevant, updated and accurate;
- Lead the establishment and maintenance of thematic sections within the Gender Training Community of Practice;
- Manage the membership of the CoP, ensuring regular communication and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned.
- Lead application of new technologies to the development of online courses and training materials;
- Keep abreast of available technology, and apply it appropriately in the work of the Centre;
- Keep abreast of new developments, approaches and best practices on gender training;
- Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
The efficient and prompt delivery of services will contribute to positioning the Training Centre as the leader on Gender Training among the UN training institutions.

Required Skills and Experience
Education
- Master degree or equivalent in Education, Gender, Social Sciences, International Development, or other related fields.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the fields of pedagogy, training/capacity development related to Gender and/or Development, Education, or other related areas;
- Experience at the international level is highly desirable;
- Experience in the design and management of e-Learning materials is highly desirable.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish is required;
- Knowledge of additional official UN language is an asset;
- Knowledge of French is particularly desirable.

The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system (DAW, OSAGI, INSTRAW and UNIFEM), which focused exclusively on gender equality and women's empowerment.
