Background

The UNDP Egypt Country Office is seeking to recruit one intern to support the Innovation for Development division in areas related to behavioral insights – a field that combines findings from psychology to behavioral economics, anthropology, sociology and beyond – to design better public policies, processes and services.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Innovation for Development Team Leader and Assistant Resident Representative in UNDP Egypt, the intern will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support UNDP Egypt’s social innovation activities, mainly focusing on behavioral insights projects;
  • Provide creative inputs and support in the planning and implementation of a project focused on the use of behavioral insights methodology;
  • Conduct research on Innovation for Development programmes, trends and tools and their applications around the world, including research on best practices and the sustainable development goals;
  • Attend staff and programme meetings as appropriate, including taking minutes where requested;
  • Assist the I4D team members in various programmatic and administrative activities upon request;

Perform other duties as they arise.

Required Skills and Experience

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in psychology or behavioral economics;
  • Excellent research and analytical skills; Knowledge of statistics software is a plus;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic;

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Eligibility

Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or
  • equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation.
