Background

The UNDP Security Office (SO), institutionally situated within the Bureau for Management Services (BMS), is responsible for all aspects of security management at UNDP Headquarters in the United States of America, and Country Offices across the world.

The most crucial component of UNDP’s security management approach is the safety and security of all the personnel for which UNDP is accountable. Ensuring a secure work environment for the ~1400 people of the UNDP NY team is a considerable and ongoing challenge.

Addressing a component of this challenge, and in support of the BMS priority to adopt more efficient processes, the SO intends to produce short safety briefings that can be recorded, uploaded to the UNDP Intranet and then accessed by UNDP personnel, on demand.

The Security Office Interns – Communications and Knowledge Transfer  – will work with the HQ Security Specialist and the Communications Associate to identify suitable opportunities that lend themselves to the desired format, create appropriate storyboards and then produce the learning material.

Additionally, they will assist in strengthening the Office’s capacity to support and promulgate SO’s position internally, and within the United Nations Security Management System.
