Background

The Smart City Project is a newly-launched joint initiative of the City of Sarajevo and UNDP in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It aims to contribute to test and affirm integrated smart urban development approaches in Bosnia and Herzegovina, that may become the backbone of the cities of the future governance model in the country. Specifically, the initiative will utilise virtual reality products to test new urban planning and visualization approaches based on citizens’ insight and vision. In addition, the initiative will pilot technology-based public service delivery solutions developed in partnership with the private sector. The Project will also encourage companies operating in the city and start-ups to test application of technology-based and innovative productive/management approaches, towards knowledge-based city economy. Innovation, partnership with the private sector and engagement of communities along the entire process stand at the heart of this initiative.
