Strategic Partnerships

At the regional office, the Strategic Partnerships Specialist is responsible for building partnerships with traditional donors as well as private sector entities, non-profit organisations and the media. In addition, the Strategic Partnerships Specialist supports country offices with their private sector engagement efforts and helps build their resource mobilisation capacity. The Strategic Partnerships Specialist is head of the Strategic Partnerships, Communications and Advocacy team and will be the intern’s supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intern will perform the following tasks in support of the Strategic Partnerships Specialist:

• Creating outreach materials for potential partners and donors;

• Supporting due diligence procedures;

• Conducting research in support of partnership-building efforts;

• Writing meeting minutes;

• Other related duties and assignments as required.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

• The intern must have studied in social sciences, international relations, business or other similar subject at the university level;

• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

Language:

• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required; Working knowledge of another UN language a distinct advantage.

Other:

• Demonstrated commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment is essential;

• Good IT skills are required;

• The intern must be capable of presenting information in a concise and capturing way;

• Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment is essential;

• The intern must have a strong sense of responsibility, a flexible and proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently.
