The Communication Unit at UNDP Geneva is seeking a consultant to assist in creating content for and maintaining UNDP Geneva website and Twitter account. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Communication specialist, the candidate will:

  • Provide assistance in curating stories, images and videos in UNDP global site and in updating UNDP Geneva web content management system.
  • Research quality pictures in UNDP database.
  • Create pages and upload content in UNDP Geneva content Management System and UNDP global website.
  • Review available content from web stories published on UNDP global and other UNDP websites as well as from partners and schedule tweets for UNDP Geneva Twitter account ensuring consistency across languages, timeliness and accuracy.
  • Leverage social media pack created by UNDP colleagues and partners to generate content on UNDP Geneva Twitter account
  • Craft specific content for UNDP Geneva Twitter account based on speech or panel conversations (content provided by UNDP Geneva colleagues)
  • Develop blogs and donors related stories for UNDP Geneva website

The Communication specialist will supervise the consultant.

The Consultant will provide a monthly report and a certificate of payment based on completed activities and time spent at the end of each month (or as most convenient in relation to completed deliverables).

Minimum requirements:

  • At least one year of relevant experience (online communication, social media).
  • One-year experience with formatting and updating content on content management system (CMS) with a practical experience with CQ5, UNDP content management system;
  • One-year experience with editing and developing English material for the web;
  • One-year experience with drafting content for Twitter in English and in French;

Minimum six months professional experience within the United Nations System, demonstrating a basic understanding of a multilateral organization environment, is a plus.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent Advanced Degree in communications, international affairs or a related area.

UNDP applies a fair and transparent selection process that would take into account both the technical qualification of Individual Consultants as well as their financial proposals. The contract will be awarded to the candidate whose offer:

  • Is deemed technically responsive / compliant / acceptable (only technically responsive applications with a minimum of 49 points will be considered shortlisted for the financial evaluation)
  • And has obtained the highest combined technical and financial scores.

 

Technical Criteria (desk review) – 70% of total evaluation – maximum: 70 points

  • Academic credentials and experience preparing the applicant to understand development issues and complex topics – 10 points
  • Practical experience (minimum one year) with curating information and producing online content for website and social media for a large development organization, which includes selecting relevant information, identifying suitable visuals, drafting content – 20 points
  • Minimum one year of experience with publishing material on content management systems (CMS) specifically with UNDP CMS, and web environment such as knowledge external platforms such as Medium or Exposure, and experience with the UN– 20 points
  • Demonstrated linguistic capacities (English and French) – 20 points

Financial Criteria – 30% of total evaluation – maximum of 30 points. Only shortlisted candidates (with a minimum of 49 points of technical score will be considered during this phase and will be requested to submit the financial proposal).
