Background

The Government of Zimbabwe volunteered to undertake a 2021 Voluntary National Review (VNR) to present the country’s progress on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 goals. This will be the second VNR, with the first one undertaken in 2017. The 2021 VNR will be presented during the 2021 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development that is convened under the auspices of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

To showcase Zimbabwe’s progress on SDGs, the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare is seeking to recruit a part-time videographer. The videographer will work under the supervision of the SDGs team within the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare with dual reporting to the UN through the Resident Coordinator’s Office.

The videographer will be required to have his/her own equipment and arrange appropriate scenes for taking the required video photographs including voice overs.

The video should highlight Zimbabwe’s progress, successes, good practice, actual work on the ground and ongoing efforts to achieve the goals set out in the 2030 Agenda. The video must be accompanied by a three-minute video and 6-minute visual presentation (9 minutes total). The three-minute video is to be presented by the Government of Zimbabwe, during VNR presentation at the 2021 High-Level Political Forum that is to be held in July 2021, while the visual presentation will be played as the background to the speech that is estimated to be 12-minutes long.

This ‘story’ will be guided in consultation with a committee comprising the Government officials through the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, UN officials and the Consultant that is developing the Voluntary National Review Report.
  3. In consultation with the committee, to identify and recommend sources of photos, footage and information that will be used in the video and visual presentation, and to present a storyboard for the video in consultation with the consultants for the VNR Report, and the appropriate production for the video, for example producing additional live-action footage, or animation.

  • To develop storyboards for two (2) 30-second teasers that can be played in the event.

Institutional Arrangement:

The consultant will report to the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare with a dual reporting line to the UN through the Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO) with technical backstopping from UN Women.
