Background

In its UN leadership role, the Resident Coordinators Office (RCO) is presently engaged in two major activities (i. preparation of a new UNSDCF and ii) the July Presidential Elections).  To bolster the RCO´s capacity in gender mainstreaming into both these important events, it is seeking a 6-month Intern to help the RCO analyze and prepare a gender sensitive response to these critical policy and governance events.   

Duties and Responsibilities

The objective of the internship is to support the RCO in its overall UNCT leadership on gender mainstreaming, and, on increasing the political participation and representation of women in the upcoming presidential elections.

Under the guidance of the RCO, the intern will perform the following duties:

  1. Provide policy advice for identifying strategic work relating to expanding women´s political participation and representation in the upcoming presidential elections.
  2. Provide analysis and recommandations on the capacity development needs required to expand the particiption of women in leadership and decision-making roles. 
  3. Prepare an analysis of UNCT gender programmes and projects implemented in the 2017-2021 UNDAF.
  4. Identify and suggest key gender mainstreaming policy and programme entry points for 2022-2026 UNSDCF.

Required Skills and Experience

Required Skills

  • Academic background and/or work experience in gender anlaysis and policy
  • Sound computer skills and experience using the Internet and web based applications
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills in English are essential and another UN langage (French and/or Spanish) is desirable;
  • Knowledge of the UN system and programmes will be an asset.

INTERNSHIP CONDITIONS

  • UNDP accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
  • Interns are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
  • Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UNDP during the period of the internship;
  • Interns must provide proof of enrolment in health insurance plan;
  • Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity;
  • Interns are expected to work full time but flexibility is allowed for education programmes;
  • Interns need to obtain financing for subsistence and make own arrangements for internship, travel, VISA, accommodation, etc.
