UNDP’s Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD), established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Turkey, is an integral part of the SDG Finance Sector Hub, supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, and facilitation of public-private dialogue and multi stakeholder-partnerships. The Center’s work to engage foundations and the private sector focuses on delivering policy advisory and technical services in four thematic areas: Inclusive Business; Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development; Impact Investing; and Resilience and Crisis Response.

UNDP IICPSD is interested in hiring a Graphic Design Intern to support IICPSD in graphic design and creating visuals and digital content, including brochures, posters, infographics, short videos, animated videos, social media cards, and flyers. The Graphic Design Intern will work in close collaboration with FSH and IICPSD communication team members under the supervision of the IICPSD Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

The interested candidate will assist the IICPSD team in:

Creating engaging digital content, including brochures, posters, infographics, short videos, animated videos, social media cards, fast facts and flyers, gifs,
Building a brand kit with visual materials,
Creating infographic charts for presentations on data analytic reports,
Contributing with creative ideas to reach and engage different audiences,
Conceptualizing and creating presentation materials for different media,
Proposing and updating designs for corporate website and promotional products,

Any other task as advised by the team.

Proficient in main graphic design and photo editing software (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere)
Solid knowledge of designing for digital media

Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Must be able to work in a multicultural environment and be aware of political sensitivities
Familiarity with main social media platforms

Required Skills and Experience

Education

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements!

(a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);

(b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);

(c) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one year of graduation;

(d) Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program.

Experience

Ability to generate design collaterals with quick turnaround time.
Excellent knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premier, Final Cut, and/or other tools used for graphic design.
Motion graphic knowledge is a plus.
Working knowledge of brand principles and marketing is a plus.
Previous national/international internship experience is a plus.

Language

Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Working knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.

Conditions

Internships within the UN system are subject to conditions the applicant must get familiar with before signing his/her internship agreement.

Starting from January 2020 interns may receive stipends according to UNDP rules and regulations, based on their duty station. Where an intern is financially supported by an institution, government, or third party, UNDP will, subject to the rules of such institution, government, or third party, pay the intern the difference, if any, between the external financial support provided and the applicable UNDP stipend.

Any further costs associated with the internship must be borne by the nominating institution, related institution, or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students; or by the student, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his or her arrangements for travel, accommodation and other costs.

Interns are not staff members and may not represent UNDP in any official capacity.

It is important to note that interns are responsible to arrange for their own visa and residence documents, and need to plan for these well in advance.

Subsequent Employment

The purpose of the Internship Programme is not to lead to further employment with UNDP but to complement an intern’s studies. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
