Background |

UNDP strives to have a workforce which reflects diversity and gender balance and applies an equal opportunities approach. All selections are on merit. Qualified Women candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities and exclusion, and build resilience so countries can sustain progress. As the UN’s development agency, UNDP plays a critical role in helping countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. UNDP has worked in India since 1951 in almost all areas of human development, from systems and institutional strengthening to inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods, as well as sustainable energy, environment and resilience. SDG is fast emerging as the new ‘mantra’ of development in India and UNDP being the integrator of SDG among the member nations of the world, is ensuring the fast-tracking of the agenda among the States/UTs in the country. UNDP has already taken great strides in moving towards an integrated approach to sustainable development. UNDP has taken steps to operationalize the strategic plan and better mainstream the three dimensions of sustainable development across its policy, programming and partnership opportunities including through promoting South-South and triangular cooperation. The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the need to establish and scale up virtual networks for knowledge exchange, while also accelerating the use of digital technologies for enhancing the knowledge eco-system. UNDP India and UNDP Seoul Policy Centre (USPC) have partnered in the process of establishing or strengthening national hubs for knowledge sharing. As an outcome of the partnership, it is decided to create a virtual platform which can engage in policy exchanges with the Seoul Policy Centre as well as premiere knowledge sharing platforms across the world for the benefit of various stakeholders in India. UNDP seeks to enlist an intern to assist the Policy Specialist in supporting liaising with software developers of the virtual platform, secondary research, data collection and analysis, preparation of concept papers, communications material etc. for the development of the virtual platform. The intern will also be responsible for coordinating with the software designers on design and development the virtual platform and content generation.
