The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN’s global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. UNDP works through 136 country offices to provide development advocacy, advice and assistance to 166 countries in Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Arab States, Eastern Europe, CIS, Latin America and the Caribbean, working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

SDG Integration is at the core of UNDP’s Global Policy Network (GPN), which is leveraged and engaged in the delivery of SDG integration services, including: Integrated Policy Solutions; SDG data, metrics, and analytics; Knowledge and Innovation; and SDG finance. The Knowledge Management (KM) team within the SDG Integration unit focuses on ensuring that knowledge created at any level of the organization will be made available to all staff to enhance organizational effectiveness. One of the activities the KM team’s portfolio is related to knowledge networking and communities of practice. This area of work aims to better connect colleagues globally and capture UNDP’s knowledge, innovations, good practices and lessons learned from country, regional and global experience.

This internship will focus on support to the global Communities of Practice and the corporate engagement platform, SparkBlue. The Intern will report to the SDG Engagement Specialist in the SDG Integration team and will work closely with colleagues managing the communities and the platform.

 

Devoirs et responsabilités

The intern’s main tasks will include one or more of the following: 

Support to the Communities of Pracrice (CoPs) 

  1. Develop a UNDP knowledge exchange toolbox
  2. Support the development and implementation of relevant online discussions on Sparkblue;
  3. Support preparation of knowledge products

Develop a UNDP knowledge exchange toolbox

  • Source different learning tools and methodology from best practices
  • Develop guidelines and processes so that the learning methods can be used
  • Develop a learning roadmap so that colleagues can easily find the right learning method for their intended audience.

Support the development and implementation of relevant online discussions on Sparkblue;

  • Support the network through proactive outreach and onboarding of new members
  • Explore new potential areas of engagement and collaboration for the network
  • In collaboration with SparkBlue core team, develop a guide on how to set up new network spaces
  • Ensure information for new members on how to understand and contribute to SparkBlue projects is easily available, including on-boarding calls as needed
  • Perform research into flat, collaborative networks and organisations to inspire new ways of working
     

Support preparation of knowledge products

  • Pulling from the CoP members’ knowledge, experience and engagements including e-discussion summaries, FAQs, lessons learned overviews to develop guidance documents and case studies, for reference and use by the community members and beyond.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation

Language Requirements:

Proficient in written and spoken English.  Knowledge of another UN language would be an asset.
