 To bring digital around the globe, we need someone who can manage digital products that advance digital development at UNDP. The position of the Digital Product manager will be part of the team at the Chief Digital Office (CDO) and report to the Data and Digital Systems lead.

Scope of Work

The Digital Product Manager will oversee a portfolio of UNDP digital products and support product development process for  several  digital concepts. The role will involve the ongoing evolution and management of products that enable digital transformation and effective delivery of UNDP programmes.  

Specifically, the Digital Product Manager will be responsible for management of matured products in the UNDP digital transformation offer, UNDP internal systems and ready to scale products developed with UNDP BPPS. The Digital Product Manager will also support conceptual development of new products, services and platform solutions.  

Under the supervision of the Data and digital systems lead, the product manager will be responsible for the following:

Product planning  

  • Develop and agree product plans/roadmaps with the relevant UNDP stakeholder/sponsor of the digital product.
  • Support the research, proposal, prototyping, testing, and conceptual development of new products, services and platform solutions 
  • Develop pragmatic agile management processes to ensure products continue to be user centric, cost-efficient and impact oriented.  
  • Build strong relationships to ensure appropriate product oversight and organisational buy in required for the product vision to be realised.  
  • Regularly communicate and present product roadmaps to relevant teams within CDO and UNDP at large.  
  • Drive thought leadership on digital product management. 

Product and service development  

  • Enable continuous development process for products under management, with iterative customer and stakeholder feedback, deploying regular product releases and fixes. 
  • Implement and maintain the necessary technical and organizational infrastructure for product delivery, including documentation/communications materials. 
  • Develop and implement quality standards and assurance processes by meeting/exceeding relevant UNDP and industry digital standards. 

Management, continuous improvement and support  

  • Implement ongoing product methodology and quality improvements in line with the relevant product roadmap.  
  • Provide responsive product support to relevant UNDP internal clients. 
  • Expand the breadth and depth of resources that enable greater levels of customer satisfaction through targeted automation, including templates, detailed documentation and standard operating procedures. 
  • Provide product training sessions for relevant teams in UNDP, including UNDP regional and country office focal points.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Min. Education requirements

  • An advanced university degree. First degree acceptable with an additional two years of experience in relevant field.

Min. years of relevant work experience

  • At least 5 experiences (with Masters) or 7 years (with Bachelors) of relevant professional experience in implementing digital projects in low middle-income countries, designing and supporting digital initiatives focused on closing the digital divide, and experience leading digital capacity building in the digital initiative implementation.

Required skills

Technical:

  • We are looking for a technically-capable product manager and designer with a passion for scaling and operationalizing proven solutions.
  • The successful candidate will be able to assess and understand digital products and engage effectively with relevant stakeholders to plan and implement to product roadmaps for impact .
  • Demonstrated proficiency in required technical areas, including design thinking, agile methodology, enterprise web/software development, product development and community management.
  • Experience in managing diverse teams, technical vendors and senior stakeholders around complex challenges is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent technical communication with peers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Understanding of different contexts and experience working in developing countries desired.
  • Ability to synthesise technical information and translate it into accessible products and systems.
  • Knowledge of international development and key challenges affecting children in developing countries is desired.
