Every two years, the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) collects local market data to determine the cost-of-living index. This data collection is done with various service providers.

For this purpose, the ICSC, through the UNDP, is recruiting a Pricing Agent who will have to proceed with this data collection based on the list of adopted service providers that will be made available to him/her.

Devoirs et responsabilités

The consultant will carry out his/her mission under the supervision of the Survey Coordinator in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Specifically, the consultant will be responsible, in conjunction with the various service providers and the Survey Coordinator, for:

  • Conduct meetings and interviews with providers in the various fields/sectors (public and private);
  • Collect data from providers in the various sectors of activity listed below (minimum of 5 providers per field or sector of activity);
  • Produce a detailed report of the mission.

Compétences

The consultant must possess the following skills:

  • Have shopping experience with knowledge of local market.
  • Preferably be an expatriate who has lived in Khartoum for at least one year.
  • Ability to travel to the duty station to visit the outlets, either by public transportation or by own transportation if necessary:

Qualifications et expériences requises

The consultant must possess the following qualifications:

  1. Have at least a High school diploma in any field.
  2. Be an independent individual who has no past or present work experience with any of the UN System Organizations and is not an immediate relative of a UN staff member (child, parent, spouse, etc.).
  3. Proficiency in English and Arabic to ensure proper interpretation of item specifications on pricing forms and to communicate effectively with outlet owners and workers.
  4. Experience in statistics, economics, project management, auditing, accounting and/or finance is an added advantage.
