UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Established in December 2012, the UN Women Jordan Country Office works in close collaboration with the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the UN Country Team and the Civil Society to advance the women’s national agenda, promote women’s empowerment and gender equality. Within this framework, the Partnerships and Advocacy Unit works on strengthening strategic partnerships towards the promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment at the country level, supported by extensive internal and external communications, to highlight the achievements and impact of programmes and national, regional and global advocacy campaigns.

Reporting to the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Specialist and working in close collaboration with the Programme and Operations teams in the Jordan Country Office, the Communications Assitant will support the planning and implementation of communications and visibility activities to well-position UN Women, its mandate and impact achieved with partners, the media and the public.

Devoirs et responsabilités

1. Support the Jordan Country Office in outreach and communications

  • Capture programmatic impact and results of UN Women’s work in the field through diverse and innovative communication products
  • Conduct interviews to capture and document human interest stories, transcribing, translating, drafting and translating drafts, as needed
  • Maintain a systematic database of communication products, media links and analytics for reporting and archiving purposes
  • Support the planning and implementation of events and high-level visits in collaboration with UN Women staff, partners, and the media

?2. Manage and maintain the Jordan Country Office social media channels and website and produce communication materials for public outreach

  • Draft social media posts, captions, visuals, news and feature articles, impact stories, press releases, media clippings, etc. for the Jordan Country Office website and social media channels (including translation to Arabic of content, scripts for audio-visual media, subtitles, etc.)
  • Maintain regular communications with implementing partners towards the establishment and implementation of communication plans, reviewing, finalizing, and translating content
  • Oversee the functioning of the website and ensure regular technical and editorial updates
  • Respond to messages and comments received through social media channels, in line with UN Women’s social media guidelines, and in consultation with the CO team, drafting reports on trends and key insights

3. Support the planning and implementation of Women’s Film Week 2023

  • Support and coordinate meetings with WFW stakeholders, drafting background documentation, official correspondence, minutes of the meeting, and briefing notes and liaise with relevant stakeholders and event management company on logistical requirements to organize WFW
  • Review films and provide synopsis and commentary on films submitted to support selection process
  • Draft and manage website and social media content to promote WFW
  • Coordinate media relations in support of WFW

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: media and communications, international studies, international relations, journalism, political science, gender studies, or other relevant subjects is required

Experience

  • At least 2 years of proven relevant experience in communications and/or media relations
  • Experience in the field of women’s empowerment and promoting gender equality in a multilateral or international organization
  • Experience with writing and editing content in English and Arabic
  • Familiarity with and/or interest in taking and/or editing digital photographs or videos
  • Knowledge of using social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter
  • Familiarity with graphic design and video editing tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro other graphic design programs or video editing tools) is a plus

Language Requirements Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Arabic are required

Evaluation Criteria: Individual consultants will be evaluated based on the following methodology. Only candidates obtaining a minimum of 49 points in the technical evaluation would be considered for the financial evaluation.

Criteria Weight Technical: 70% (70 points)

  • Education (20 points)
  • At least 2 years of proven relevant experience in communications and/or media relations (15 points)
  • Experience with writing and editing content in English and Arabic (10 points)
  • Familiarity with and/or interest in taking and/or editing digital photographs or videos (5 points)
  • Knowledge of using social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter (5 points)
  • Proven experience in in the field of women’s empowerment and promoting gender equality in a multilateral or international organization (15 points)

Financial: Lowest Financial Proposal: 30% (30 points)

The points for the Financial Proposal will be allocated as per the following formula:

  • Contract will be awarded to the technically qualified consultant who obtains the highest combined score (financial and technical)
  • The points for the Financial Proposal will be allocated as per the following formula: (Lowest Bid Offered*)/ (Bid of the Consultant) x 30
  • 'Lowest Bid Offered' refers to the lowest price offered by Offerors scoring at least 49 points in the technical evaluation
