UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) section is part of the Policy, Programme, and Intergovernmental Division (PPID) at UN Women Headquarters in New York. The section is responsible for a number of functions including policy and technical advice to regional and country offices on EVAW, supporting normative work on EVAW and developing and overseeing global policy support related to global programmes.
The purpose of this international consultancy is to develop a Policy and Practices brief on Preventing and Responding to Sexual Harassment in the Night-Time Economy (not to exceed 10 pages). The International Consultant, Ending Sexual Harassment in Multiple Settings will be supervised by the Policy Specialist, EVAW in direct consultation with the Senior Policy Advisor, EVAW (Safe Public Spaces). The consultant will provide strategic guidance and recommendations for the brief, based on deep understanding of industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications et expériences requises
Education and Certification:
- Master's degree or other advanced degree in one or more of the following disciplines: law, social sciences, international development, and/or communications.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in programmes related to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
- Substantial knowledge of violence against women and gender equality issues.
- Strong research and drafting skills.
- Experience of contributing to webinars, meetings and events for a range of different stakeholders; including as part of international development, an advantage.
- Prior experience of working with the UN system, in particular, UN Women, an asset.
Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable
