The Income and Employment Generation Expert is responsible for managing the effective promotion of income generation activities and sustainable means of employment for local communities, especially women and vulnerable groups.

The Expert works under direct supervision of the Project Manager  and the overall guidance of the UNDP Programme Officer.

Devoirs et responsabilités

  • Provide professional mentorship, training and support to local facilitators and other project staff working based on a peer-to-peer approach
  • Develop strategies for district and regional economic recovery and development
  • Hold interaction with local authorities and communities of participating districts for ABD implementation, develop district-level strategies to pilot the ABD approach
  • Building on the district and regional economic recovery plan develop a package or manual on income generation and employment creation for target districts based on the Area Based Development approach
  • Pilot the package and adjust the packages to local needs of the targeted districts
  • Ensure that local economic development projects are successfully planned and implemented and gains effectively shared among the main stakeholders
  • Provide training for established community organizations and self-help groups on how to explore, conceptualize and strategise local employment and income generation strategies
  • Design and implement sustainability mechanisms for all projects carried out under the economic components.
  • Promote the development of micro enterprises and ensure their capabilities for obtaining credit
  • Monitor economic component activities undertaken and report to project management on progress, outcome and impact provided on a timely manner
  • Extract and record practical guidelines and lesson learned from the Economic Development efforts of the program.
  • Prepare various reports as required by the organization
  • Participate in training and knowledge exchange exercises
 

Compétences

  • Willingness and ability to work in multi-stakeholders, intercultural, religious environment with a wide cross-section of partners
  • Excellent writing, communication and organization skills
  • Confirmed experience in elaboration of successful regional (local) development strategies or plans of economic recovery
  • Extensive knowledge of SME  and private sector

Qualifications et expériences requises

  • Master’s degree or equivalent from a well-established educational institution, preferably in the field of economics or business administration
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
  • Advanced computer knowledge
  • Driving license is a strong asset
