The Career Transition Unit (CTU) within the UNDP Office of Human Resources, operates as an integral component of UNDPs overall People Capability Strategy and its renewed focus on people management.   Amongst other responsibilities, the (CTU) unit is responsible for the provision of coaching and advising services to UNDP employees who go through the phases of transitioning from the end of an assignment, are between assignments, and/or are returning from secondment or Special Leave Without Pay (SLWOP) and seek long-term placement within the organisation.

Career coaching in these phases will provide staff members with additional professional career development support, including career assessment, guidance and coaching as they aim to remain employed within UNDP and the UN system.
 
CTU intends to bring on board two professional consultants to conduct Career Coaching to UNDP staff members referred to by CTU, on needs’ and on retainer basis.

Devoirs et responsabilités

Upon request of the Human Resources Specialist and Chief of the Career Transitions Unit, the Consultant will provide career coaching for, and job search assistance to, affected staff via group workshops [when appropriate], individual telephone and / or in-person sessions, and dissemination of information related to career assessment, resume preparation, job interviewing, job search strategy, networking, relocating, and managing the stress of career and life transitions.

The Consultant will also provide consultation and case supervision to the Chief of CTU to assure an orderly, smooth process. In support of these activities, the Consultant will research and /or prepare materials where necessary; attend relevant meetings; receive advice and guidance from the HR Specialists on post-reduction policy and procedures; coordinate coaching and referral activities within and outside of OHR; keep track of and report on clients and service delivery

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities;
  • Ability to work effectively with UNDP Staff members in various regions and offices.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education:

  • Advanced University Degree (Master’s equivalent) in Human Resources management, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational-Clinical Social Work or other related field.  Career coaching certification is an asset.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years of experience working in international organizations in organizational realignment exercises, conducting job/career workshops, individual coaching and mentoring.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English essential;
  • Fluency in another UN Language a very strong asset.

Evaluation Criteria:

The consultant and the offer will be evaluated against a combination of technical and financial criteria.
Out of the maximum score of 100 points the score for technical criteria equals 70% (= maximum 70 points) and for financial criteria 30% (= maximum 30 points).

The technical evaluation (70%, or max 70 pts.) will take into account the following criteria:

  • License and / or certification in career coaching;
  • Knowledge of and experience with change management and office reprofiling/realignment processes;
  • Experience in providing coaching and advisory services to staff of international/multicultural organizations;
  • Familiarity with UN system and specifically UNDP , is a strong asset;
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.

The financial evaluation (30% or max 30 pts.) will only be made for the technically highest ranked candidates, who are considered to be qualified for the job.
