UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. 

Under the overall guidance of the Operations Manager, the ICT Associate executes ICT services in the Country Office of Jordan, implements ICT management systems and strategies, provides daily technical support to users of information management tools and technology infrastructure. The incumbent is responsible for review and advice on the use of new technologies that will enhance the CO productivity.  The ICT Associate promotes a client-oriented approach.

1. Ensures implementation of ICT strategies and introduction and implementation of new technologies, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Full compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines and procedures for the CO technology environment.
  • Analysis of the requirement and elaboration of internal policies and procedures on the use of ICT. 
  • Participation in the office business process re-engineering activities and ensure that business needs drive IT solutions related to corporate resource management.
  • Conduct of market research and analysis, and introduction of new technology for country office system updating and improvement.
  • Provision of advice on and assistance in procurement of new ICT equipment for the CO and projects, provision of technical specifications and information on best options in both local and international markets.
  • Development and update of the ICT annual plan and road map. Development and update of the business continuity plan, disaster recovery plan, ICT infrastructure and training plans. Follow up on their implementation.
  • Provision of support to the use of ERP system functionality for improved business results and improved client services.

2. Manages CO hardware and software packages, focusing on the achievement of the following results:

  • CO hardware and software platforms meet the UN Women corporate standards and the CO key business processes.
  • Test, maintain, and monitor computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs.
  • Provision of advice on maintenance of equipment and acquisition of hardware supplies 
  • Supervision of the implementation of corporate UN Women systems.
  • Determine computer software or hardware needed to set up or alter system.
  • Expand or modify system to serve new purposes.
  • Daily troubleshoot and maintenance.

3. Ensures efficient network and server administration, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Monitoring of the computing resources to provide a stable and responsive environment.
  • 1st level network support.
  • Configuring network printers and providing user access.
  • Monitoring of backup and restoration procedures for both server and local drives. 
  • Timely upgrade of LAN infrastructure and Internet connectivity to meet UN Women requirements.
  • Provision of technical advice on network administration (Routing and switching)

4. Ensure facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Identification and promotion of different systems and applications for optimal content management, knowledge management and sharing, information provision.
  • Organization of training for the operations/projects staff on ICT issues.
  • Synthesis of lessons learned and best practices directly linked to ICT management.
  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
  • Effectively maintain the CO websites and Intranet.

5. Ensure facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  •  Identification and promotion of different systems and applications for optimal content management, knowledge management and sharing, information provision.
  • Organization of training for the operations/projects staff on ICT issues.
  • Synthesis of lessons learned and best practices directly linked to ICT management.
  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

6. Ensure effective asset management, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Plan and coordinate the asset verification activities.
  • Ensure that any adjustments as a result of the verification are submitted for processing.
  • Ensure that the asset register is accurate and up to date.
  • Effectively control and safeguard the country office assets.

Qualifications et expériences requises

Education and certification:

• College Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Information Systems, or related field.

Bachelor’s Degree is an asset

• Cisco Certified Network Engineer (CCNE) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) is an asset. 

• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is highly desirable.

Experience:

At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in network and server administration and use of hardware/software, telecommunications facilities;

Language Requirements:  

  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required
  • Knowledge of the other UN official working language is an asset.
